Jacksonville's small businesses don't fail because their owners lack heart.

They fail because they open with nothing left in the tank. Savings drained on permits and build-out, a launch date arriving before payroll, marketing, or insurance is settled. The first ninety days set the trajectory of a business, and most founders enter those days already running on fumes.

Launch Jax exists to close that gap. We give Jacksonville entrepreneurs the runway, the relationships, and the operational support to open with stability. So the businesses this city needs actually stay open.

The founder's story

This work started in 2001. Launch Jax is where it leads.

I have been consulting Jacksonville small businesses since my BellSouth days in 2001, sitting across the table from founders working out how to make payroll, file paperwork, choose a phone system, set up a website, hire their first employee. That work taught me how much of running a business is invisible until you are doing it.

In 2003 I founded Integrated Small Business Solutions to help entrepreneurs form their businesses, build a web presence, and find their footing online before they opened doors.

In 2014 I crossed to the other side of the table and co-founded Mr. Potato Spread. Operating a business firsthand made the consulting work sharper, not because the advice changed, but because I now knew what it cost a founder to take it.

I founded Launch Jax in 2019 to apply two decades of lessons to one focused mission: give Jacksonville entrepreneurs the runway, the relationships, and the operational support to open with stability. The Florida Certified Business Association recognized the work in 2023 with an entrepreneurship award, and the JAX Chamber named me Small Business Leader of the Year in 2024.

2001 BellSouth / AT&T. Began consulting Jacksonville small businesses on telecom, technology, and operations.
2003 Founded ISBS. Integrated Small Business Solutions: helping entrepreneurs incorporate, build online, and prepare for launch.
2014 Co-founded Mr. Potato Spread. Crossed to the operator side and learned what consulting advice actually costs to follow.

Launch Jax sits inside Jacksonville's broader ecosystem as the next layer. Not a replacement for what already exists, but the runway and resourcing piece most Jacksonville founders are missing. I serve on the board of the Jacksonville Women's Business Center and have spent years referring founders between Jacksonville's best programs, including JWBC, the JAX Chamber's Jax Bridges program, and others.

Jacksonville already has nonprofits doing important work, and we partner with several of them. Launch Jax is built differently because a small business ecosystem should be funded the same way the businesses inside it are: through value exchange, not grants.

That means our entrepreneurs are clients, not cases. Our partners are stakeholders, not donors. And our work has to earn its keep every quarter.
